How to choose

How to choose an ensemble

In an ensemble, it's all about the combination of musicians. A string group sounds different from a vocal ensemble or a mixed instrumental lineup. Therefore, ask which parts are included in the performance. We are happy to look at the repertoire examples of the actual group. A general description of classical or modern music says little about the ensemble play and appearance. Also, consider the role of the performance. Do you want guests to listen attentively during a ceremony, or should the music mainly support the reception? This choice influences the repertoire and the place in the program. We also discuss the acoustics. Some ensembles are best without amplification, but that depends on the venue and ambient noise. The musicians must be able to hear and see each other well. Tell us how much space is available and whether chairs or music stands are needed. This way, you can choose a suitable lineup without relying solely on the name ensemble.

Prices

How much does it cost to hire a music ensemble?

The price of an ensemble depends on the composition, playing time, and date. A larger group requires different planning and transportation than a compact lineup. Some pieces can be played directly from the repertoire. A special arrangement or new arrangement may require extra preparation. We discuss what you want to hear before comparing the options.

The acoustics and setup of your venue influence the performance. A quiet room with good acoustics has different requirements than a space with many conversations. Ask if amplification is needed and what technical facilities the group brings. Chairs, stands, and the playing area can also be important. We discuss the practical wishes with you.

Travel distance, access, and setup time are part of the total proposal. Musicians may be able to take their places directly, or a sound check may be needed first. We are happy to clarify which lineup and activities you are booking. This way, you can evaluate ensembles based on the concrete musical performance.

Occasions

Ensemble music for your special moments

An ensemble is suitable for a ceremony where music has a clear place. The ensemble sound can accompany an entrance or farewell without the need for a large band setup. We discuss which pieces suit the moment and how the musicians are placed. For a reception, a calm selection can be pleasant. Guests can then enter while the music sets a recognizable atmosphere.

An ensemble can also be suitable for a business dinner, anniversary, or gala. The lineup determines how prominently the music is present. A small instrumental group gives a different character than a vocal group. Consider whether guests should listen or continue talking. We also look at the venue. A lot of reverberation or background noise can affect the audibility of the music. This way, you choose an ensemble that fits the program and acoustics.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about ensemble music

What lineup is included in an ensemble booking?

This varies per group offered. Ask about the instruments or voices you actually hear and who will be present during the performance. We are happy to record the lineup in the proposal. This way, you know what sound you are booking and can compare different ensembles fairly.

Can an ensemble perform acoustically?

Some lineups can play without amplification, but the venue determines a lot. In a busy or echoing space, music may be less clear. Send us the location details. We discuss whether the group comes into its own acoustically or if technical support is wiser.

Can we request a piece of music for the ceremony?

Yes, you can share a title and the desired version. We ask if the piece is in the existing repertoire and suitable for the chosen lineup. A new arrangement may require preparation. We discuss this in advance so you don't count on an unconfirmed performance.

How much space does an ensemble need?

The playing area depends on the instruments and the way musicians play together. Some groups need chairs and stands. Share the dimensions of the space with us. We check if everyone can hear each other and if guests can move freely around the setup.

Is an ensemble suitable for a busy event?

That depends on the musical function and the acoustics. If guests talk a lot, a soft acoustic performance may fade away. We discuss whether amplification is appropriate or if a separate listening moment works better. This way, the music remains audible without being unnecessarily loud.

Can we combine an ensemble with a DJ?

This is possible when the performances have their own place in the program. Think of a quiet reception with live music and later a party section. We help coordinate the order and technical switch. You don't have to have the musicians play simultaneously to achieve cohesion.
