Aalsmeer is closely associated with the Dutch flower trade, but its waterside landscape is just as important when planning a gathering. The Westeinderplassen lakes shape the town's character and may influence the atmosphere you want to create. If guests are flying into Schiphol or travelling from elsewhere in the country, clear arrival details will matter. Consider the indoor setup before deciding how much of the programme should depend on outdoor views. The Aalsmeer listings currently show 7 venues in town.

01 Dinner with restaurant catering
Restaurant De Oude Veiling provides catering at this event venue. De Oude Veiling therefore brings food service into a broader event setting, making it a suitable place to bring guests together for dinner.
02 Party with a DJ in a music venue
Music is already part of this venue's identity through live performances and celebrations. Hosting a party with a DJ builds on that connection and puts the shared experience of music at the centre of the gathering.
03 Business gathering in an indoor beach setting
The Beach brings an indoor beach setting to a corporate occasion. Because the beach environment is available throughout the year, the event can draw on a summer-inspired atmosphere regardless of the season in which guests meet.

// Frequently asked questions
Aalsmeer is an established centre for the trade in cut flowers and plants. An active floriculture auction and marketplace here connects growers with professional buyers and exporters. That history gives a corporate gathering a recognisable local context, especially for visitors working in horticulture. The town's connection to flowers is commercial and cultural, not merely a decorative marketing theme.
The lakes did not begin as a planned leisure park. Peat was removed for fuel, and the resulting excavations filled with water while flooding reshaped the area. Remaining strips and islands of land now sit among open water and reed beds. This landscape history helps explain why Aalsmeer has such a different visual identity from nearby polder towns.
Lilacs have a long tradition in Aalsmeer and are cultivated on peat-rich island plots around the Westeinderplassen. Their association with the town is rooted in local growing practices rather than a temporary event theme. If you want a subtle regional reference in a dinner programme, this history offers a stronger story than a generic Dutch floral motif.
